Living Intentionally

Living with intention is something we must deliberately pursue—it does not come naturally. Our flesh belongs to this world, and that is where it cries out to remain. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” The kingdom of God can be found right where we are in the present day; it is where God dwells as we carry on with our daily lives. We are called to actively pursue God’s will and strive to please Him as we become more like Him. We must willingly submit to the authority of God and seek Him in everything we do. We are to show love and mercy to those around us, giving them a glimpse into God’s character. Living righteously in a world that encourages the opposite will guide others to seek God in their own lives.

The verse continues, “and all these things shall be added unto you.” God is our provider—Jehovah Jireh. He knows exactly what we need, how much we need, and when we need it. There should be no doubt in our minds that He is the one we must turn to in times of hardship and difficult circumstances.
It is important to remember that, just as Jesus experienced, there may be seasons when our needs go unmet for reasons we do not understand. As Isaiah 55:8 reminds us, “God’s ways are not our ways.” These moments are opportunities to be living examples for those around us. We must remain steadfast in our confidence that our lives are under God’s control. There is never a reason to feel insecure as long as we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
